I can tell this through her very personal messages discussing her every day activities and pictures that she posts that appear to come from her phone. For example, today she posted a picture of the line from her seat at her book signing. She uses great Kairos because she discusses things like her book signing, which hints to her twitter followers that she has a book that they can buy. Similarly, she discusses filming on the Rachel Ray show, which encourages followers to go watch her on the show. Also, Eva frequently responds to fans that tweet at her. One fan tweeter at Eva saying she should do a book signing in Miami and Eva tweeted back telling her she would be in Miami on May 1^st. Eva’s page is a simple pink with a subtly flowered background. It is so simple that is really makes her photo stand out. While many celebrities use a sexy photograph, Eva looks almost like a politician in her photograph. She is wearing a conservative dress and earrings and is staring off into the distance with a subtle smile. Her description of herself says, “Actress, Activist, and Philanthropist.” Her page is clearly aimed at enhancing her career as a celebrity that not only cares for her fans, but hopes to expand beyond only acting. She is trying to reinforce that she is a published author and also someone that cares deeply for philanthropic work. She has said that she wants to be the next Oprah, and her page here supports that idea. While Eva is attempting to project this image, I still believe that she is viewed by the media and the public as a sexy icon that is frequently been in the tabloids for her relationships with different men.

Similarly, I believe that Chelsea Handler is the one in charge of her twitter account. Although many of her tweets appear to be aimed at promoting her show and getting followers to watch, she includes quite a bit of her very one-of-a-kind personal humor. She jokes about not knowing how to respond to tweets from her phone and encourages followers to go see HOP this weekend, although she would never see it because she hates kids. Although her twitter is very comical, it is clearly a promotional tool for her show. Her personal description says, “Comedian, TV personality and Author. Chelsea Hander hosts The Chelsea Lately Show on E!” Her background is also an advertisement for her show. The constant humor used in Chelsea’s tweets relates to her ethos as a humorous comedian. Also, she uses Kairos since her tweets refer to when her show will be debuting new episodes. When tweeting at other people, Chelsea mainly tweets at her friends and family. Unlike Eva, she does not communicate with fans.

Both Chelsea and Eva use Kairos to promote their personal endeavors through their tweets. Also, the two of them post images of themselves in daily life to make followers feel like they have a window into their personal lives. But unlike Chelsea, Eva uses her twitter account to try to change her image and advance her career. Chelsea on the other hand uses it to show off her humor and advertise her show. Also, while Eva uses her twitter to communicate with her fans and reach out to those who follow her, Chelsea does not communicate with fans.

The purpose of social media for celebrites is for them to have an outlet to communicate with their fans and the general public. It is a way for them to project an image of themselves that they want the public to see and experience. It gives them the opportunity to manage the way the world views them and make them seem more down to earth.
