1. Choose two celebrities to follow on Twitter / examine the facebook page of two celebrities. Look closely at their tweets/ posts.
2. Take screenshots of some portion of both pages (keystroke – Cntrl – Shift – 4 for Mac users, Alt – Print Screen for Windows) and post them alongside your paragraphs.
3. In a developed blog post, evaluate their social media presences in terms of argument and rhetoric. Who appears to be speaking—are you able to determine if it is the celebrities themselves or their handlers? How do they imagine or gesture to a viewing audience? What kind of ethos is promoted? Are there other rhetorical strategies being used (kairos, logos, pathos)? Are there conversations with others? Who is being addressed or not addressed? Consider the visual impact of the page. How does the appearance of page connect with the celebrities’ image? How do the images projected in social media differ/ connect with other images that are circulating about the celebrities?
4. In another paragraph, compare your findings for each celebrity you have chosen to follow. How are the two similar or different?
5. In another paragraph, assess the purpose of social media re. celebrity culture, the culture at large, or both.
