Hello everyone and welcome to our class blog. We will go over general instructions for blogging in class, but after that you'll need to read and review the instructions below before completing the first post. You should also read and review the assigned articles carefully.
Instructions for Post #1
In a short paragraph, consider your exposure to celebrity culture. You may focus on any/some/all of the following questions, but you must provide a developed answer. How does the article "Seeing by Starlight: Celebrity Obsession" examine our connections with celebrities? How do these connections determine our day-to-day interactions? Considering your own experience as well as the article's general claims, how do you participate as a consumer of celebrity? Do you actively seek out celebrity culture, or do you do your best to avoid it?
In another paragraph, do your best to describe the portrayal of Lindsay Lohan offered by the VF article "Adrift..." distributed in class. How is she depicted? What kind of person emerges? How do the photographs included support or contradict the article's argument? How does these portrayals compare or contrast with how other media sources have examined her? You may provide links to other media sources if you like. What examples from the text are striking to you? From the article, what conclusions is the reader encouraged to draw about fame/ Hollywood/ the media?
