No matter what we do, where we go or ow we live, celebrities are a part of our everyday lives. Whether it be emulating them with how we dress, or talking about a favorite sports stars highlights from ESPN the other night, we are a culture who is obsessed with celebrities. We feel like and want to be a part of their lives, even if we hate to admit it. We love to gossip about them, often speaking of them as if we are friends. All of these things are, as is stated in the article, due to our minds and how they work. Our minds want to live through our favorite celebrities a lot of the times, and whether you are a person who tries to completely avoid anything to do with them, or one who has 50 magazine subscriptions and reads them cover to cover weekly, we are influenced every day of our lives by the lives of famous others.
Lindsay Lohan's article featured in Vanity Fair shows a much softer side of Lindsay than we've become accustomed to over the past few years. Lindsay has been all over tabloids and an example of a celebrity many certainly do not envy, even finding herself in the midst of a 90-day jail sentence. However, Vanity Fair chooses to depict her only as someone who got lost and is looking to find their way home, a victim almost. While being in the public eye so often is definitely not any excuse for the mistakes she has made, you can certainly understand her folding under the immense pressure of the spotlight. Its easy, while reading this article, to picture her once again as the little mischeivous twins from The Parent Trap, and the pictures accompanying the article go a long way to help this. All in all, I think this article does a lot of good for those wanting to give Lohan a second chance, especially after the negativity she has found herself amidst in the past few years.
