I am definitely one to seek out celebrity gossip on occasion and I believe that the whole celebrity whirlwind can make you want to dress, act, or look a certain way but not necessarily want to be famous like them. The article "Seeing by Starlight: Celebrity Obsession," tries to explain why we as humans are so fixated on copying celebrities and wanting to live in a world like theirs. I agree that we aspire to be like celebrities in some ways and it’s kind of crazy when you stop and think about just how much celeb culture we are exposed to every day. Watching the same actors for years and seeing their faces all over the magazines really does make it feel like you almost have a personal relationship with them. Celebrities make our lives more interesting and give us something to dream of becoming. As ridiculous as it all seems sometimes, you just can’t really help but be star struck when you end up meeting a celebrity.

I can't say that I've ever been a fan of Lindsay's, but she has been through a lot. In the VF article "Adrift..." the writer has almost contradicting things to say about her. Through all of the arrests, drug and alcohol charges, and eventually going to jail, Lindsay continues to insist that she has changed for the better. After reading the article, it just comes across that Lindsay is making a bunch of excuses and blaming other people for what she’s done. Even though the author may be trying to show that she’s changed, she still admits she notices this too. The pictures of her in the article depict her as a mature and sophisticated woman, which is pretty much opposite of the messy girl “falling apart” in the article. The media can be harsh, make up stories, create enemies, and publish unflattering pictures, but there has to be some truth behind everything. Yes she was young and partying like everyone else does at that age, but she’s not everyone else. When someone famous doesn’t live up to the public’s high expectations for them, they’ll be ridiculed and that should be expected. In the end, Lindsay emerges as someone who wants to have a new start and be successful again in her personal and professional lives, but is just run down and doesn’t have a lot of support from the industry.
