The article “Seeing By Starlight: Celebrity Obsession,” examines our connections with celebrities by showing the relationship of the average Joe to celebrities, and how consumed the average person is with them. We think we are so close to them through media outlets, but it continuously puts celebrities on a pedestal. -Celebrities impact my day-to-day interactions greatly, especially in a materialistic way. I look to certain influential people for style, choice of car, and electronics and much more. I am influenced by musical celebrities, and on a daily basis whether I am watching TV or listening to my IPod I like to stay current with their life. I don’t necessarily avoid celebrity culture, but I don’t actively seek it out. I only seek out celebrities that pertain to me in some aspect, such as sports and music artists.
By just looking at the images of Lindsay Lohan she seems like she is living the typical life of a celebrity. Rich, stunning, enjoying life, care free, and living the American Dream. But, after reading the article it is clear that her life is the opposite. She may have had it all going on in the beginning, but now she is in and out of jail, on drugs, full of drama, and her acting career is on the line. These are the ways the photos contradict what is in the article, from a glance it looks like she has it all but after reading her story she’s had a life filled with turmoil. What was really surprising to me from the text, was that she knows she is going downhill and still not getting back on track. She says she wants to, but hasn’t really learned or want her regular life bad enough.
