Parody: v. To compose a parody on (a literary ar artistic work, author or genre); to produce or constitute a humorousy exaggerated imitation of; to ridicule or satirize.

Examples of parody can be found almost everywhere on television. A show that incorporates parody really well is Saturday Night Live. That show pokes fun at almost everything in the entertainment industry. The parody example I chose is the "Black Swan" skit with Jim Carrey. This skit came out on the first episode of SNL of 2011. It is making fun of a ballet movie with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.

The significance of this example is that this skit managed to turn a very dark, twisted, psychological thriller into a very humorous and ridiculous scene. I thought it was funny how SNL could turn this movie, which got so much critical acclaim, into something so absurd and laughable. But this is what SNL does. Saturday Night Live parodies everything from lame commercials, to Oscar-worthy films.
