Parody, although Pastiche sounded way cooler.

Parody, v. : To compose a parody on (a literary or artistic work, author, or genre); to turn into parody; to produce or constitute a humorously exaggerated imitation of; to ridicule or satirize.

In essence to pastiche is to mirror something, where as a parody is to make fun of something and a homage is to honor or pay tribute to something.

I decided to work with parody, even though pastiche sounded way cooler, parodies are a bit easier to come across.  And I think with all the devastation that's surrounding us, a laugh might be a nice break.  I saw a clip a friend shared on another friends Facebook wall and immediately thought of how it is parodying the genre of viral videos, similar to the Smart Water "Jennifer Aniston Sex Tape" video.

The clip seems to be a trailer for a movie called "The Chronicles of Rick Roll."  Please view.

Really, what the trailer shares is the ludicrousness of how popular viral video stars have become in our society, and what anyone will do to extend their fifteen minutes of fame.  On the other hand, it also shows how the popularity of these viral videos have made the contents, characters included, famous.

What is significant about the parody of the viral videos is that the genre is big enough now that it can actually be parodied.  Sure, almost anything can be parodied, but if no one knows what is being parodied then it is kind of a moot point.

All in all, I hope I have shared with the world something of value with the trailer for "The Chronicles of Rick Roll."
