The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines homage as, "an expression of high regard" while another portion of its definition is "something that shows respect or attests to the worth or influence of another." There are plenty of examples within Hollywood of one celebrity paying homage to another. Some could look at it as copying or unfairly capitalizing on another's already established persona, but homage is always about honoring and respecting another. The definition is two-fold. Not only are you honoring someone when you pay homage to that person, but the act of homage "attests to the
influence of another," meaning that a person has to have made an impact on the public in order for someone to pay homage to them. I have found two examples of homage. First is an article of all of the celebrities who tweeted about Elizabeth Taylor's death on March 23, 2011. The link to the article is pasted below.

A wide variety of celebrities commented on her death and the impact that she had on the world. All of their tweets are definitely "expression of high regards," as the Merriam-Webster defines homage, and their posts certainly indicate that Taylor was a person worthy of respect.
Another example of homage that I came across is a New York Magazine photo shoot featuring Lindsay Lohan. Lohan is recreating Marilyn Monroe's infamous "Last Sitting" photo shoot.
Many celebrities have paid homage to Marilyn Monroe in that there are several celebrities who have dressed very similarly to how Monroe dressed, pose how she would pose, etc. The Lohan shoot definitely attests to Monroe's unmistakable influence as a sex symbol.
