Homage: a public show of respect or honour towards someone orsomething

This video is the Glee cast performing their renition of Lady Gaga's new song 'Born This Way.' During the performance they each wear a shirt that says something about themselves that they were ashamed of, but now are embrasing because they accept that they were 'born this way' and should be proud of it. This pays homage to Lady Gaga because she preaches about accepting who you are, even for the things that other people may see as faults, and being proud of your individuality. They are showing their "respect" and "honor" for Gaga through their performance.

This is significant because songs performed on Glee usually become instant hits and create a lot of buzz for the original singers of the song. Because of this, you know Glee is very selective about the artists they choose to pay homage to and the fact that they have used Lady Gaga in multiple episodes shows how much the writers and cast support her work.
